RoadRune is an AI-powered mobile application available on iOS and Android that helps you diagnose vehicle issues through audio analysis, warning light scanning, and an AI chat assistant. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with transparency.

This policy applies to all users of our Service, including free and Premium subscribers.

2. Information We Collect

Vehicle Data Collection

  • Vehicle DetailsMake, model, year, and other specifications of vehicles you add to your garage.
  • VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)When you use VIN lookup, we decode your VIN to retrieve accurate vehicle specifications. VINs are stored to maintain your vehicle garage.
  • Maintenance RecordsService history, maintenance schedules, and diagnostic records you create or import.
  • Diagnostic HistoryResults from audio diagnoses, warning light scans, and AI chat consultations.

2.3 Media Content

Audio and Image Data

  • Audio RecordingsRecordings of vehicle sounds (engine noises, unusual sounds) that you submit for AI diagnosis. These recordings are processed by our AI system to identify potential issues.
  • Dashboard PhotosImages of dashboard warning lights that you capture using the warning light scanner feature. These images are analyzed by our AI to identify and explain warning indicators.

2.4 Automatically Collected Information

Automatic Data Collection

  • Usage DataFeatures used, diagnostic requests made, time spent in the app, and interaction patterns.
  • Device InformationDevice type, operating system version, app version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
  • Log DataError logs, crash reports, and performance data to help us improve the Service.

2.5 Subscription Information

Payment and Subscription Data

4. AI Data Processing

Your audio recordings and photos are processed by AI to provide diagnostic services. Here is how we handle this data:

4.1 Audio Recording Processing

When you record vehicle sounds for diagnosis, the audio is:

  • Securely transmitted to Google Gemini AI for analysis
  • Processed to identify patterns associated with vehicle issues
  • Stored in our secure database (Supabase) along with the diagnostic results
  • Retained as part of your diagnostic history unless you delete it

4.2 Image Processing

When you capture dashboard warning light photos:

  • Images are securely transmitted to Google Gemini AI for analysis
  • The AI identifies warning light symbols and provides explanations
  • Images and results are stored in our secure database (Supabase)
  • You can delete individual diagnostic records from your history

4.3 AI Training Disclosure

Important: Your audio recordings and images may be used by Google Gemini AI according to their data processing policies. We recommend reviewing Google's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle data sent to their AI services.

6. How We Share Your Information & Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal information.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Our retention periods are:

7.1 Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your data at any time by deleting your account through the app settings or by contacting us. Upon account deletion:

  • All personal data will be deleted within 30 days from our primary systems
  • Backup copies may take up to 90 days to be fully purged
  • Data already sent to third-party AI services cannot be recalled
  • Anonymized aggregate data may be retained for analytics

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

-Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) for all data transmissions

-Secure authentication via Apple and Google OAuth 2.0
-Row-level security in our database to isolate user data
-Regular security updates and monitoring

While we take extensive precautions, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to keep your device secure and sign out when using shared devices.

9. International Data Transfers

RoadRune operates globally, and your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your residence, including the United States where our service providers (Google, Supabase) may process data.

For transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
  • Data Processing Agreements with our service providers
  • Adequacy decisions where applicable

10. Your Rights

RoadRune is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. Our Service may contain links to third-party websites, applications, or services (such as repair shops or parts suppliers). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing personal information.

13. Updates to This Policy
